Kwara State Governor AbduRrahaman AbdulRasaq has endorsed the staging of a sports administration course for sports officers, organising secretaries, and other stakeholders in schools and government agencies. It is to be organised by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).

According to the Executive Chairman of the state Sports Commission, Coach Bola Magaji, who represented the Governor at the closing ceremony of the well-attended Olympic Solidarity Course, the state government is committed to opening the minds of administrators to the new rudiments in all sports.

He commended the participants for their resilience to cover the three-day course, which attracted experts from the academic sports ministry and experienced sports consultants in Nigeria.

In his goodwill message, Olympian Hameed Adio praised the Habu Gumel-led NOC for spreading the gospel of building a formidable administration to enhance sports development in corners of the country, adding that the spirit of participation would continue to drive the Olympics.

Twenty-five participants attended the workshop

According to the communiqué, the Olympic Solidarity Course/Nigeria Olympics Committee Sports Administration Course commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for its support of football development in Nigeria. It then charged the NFF to improve the football academy in Nigeria by providing training platforms for academic owners in FIFA CONNECT and IMS (Transfer Machine System), which would enable quality data collection in Nigeria.

The participants eulogised the resource personnel for their deep knowledge of the issues discussed. The group included Mr. Nweri Emmanuel, Mr. Oyedeji Olamide, Dr. Toyin Aluko, Dr. George Ashiru, Dr. Mrs. Oluwaseun Nariwoh, Prof. Fumilayo Leah-Dominic, Dr. Toba Bamitele, and Prof. Fasan Clement.

The participants also applauded Nigerian youths and parents for standing by the proprietors and owners of academics in Nigeria. “Without the raw materials, there will be no product. We therefore advise and strongly encourage parents to allow their children (especially girls) to fully participate in education and sports all over Nigeria”, the communiqué stated.
