Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat has paid a condolence visit to Dame Joke Silva and the family of late Nollywood legend, Olu Jacobs.
Hamzat, who visited the family alongside his wife, Oluremi, disclosed the visit in a statement shared on X.
He described the late actor, who died at the age of 84, as a pioneer whose exceptional craft influenced generations and left a lasting legacy in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
“My wife, Oluremi, and I paid a condolence visit to Dame Joke Silva and the family of the late Olu Jacobs,” Hamzat said.
“We lost a true icon. Olu Jacobs was a pioneer and a remarkable actor whose work touched generations. He left a lasting legacy in Nigerian entertainment, and his depth and talent were truly exceptional.
“I offered our deepest prayers to the family during this difficult time. May God grant him peaceful rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss.”
Jacobs, fondly known as ‘The Lion of Lufodo’, died on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.
His family announced his death and appealed for privacy as they mourned the veteran actor.
Jacobs had a career spanning stage, television and film and was widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Nigeria’s entertainment history.
