The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources commenced the removal of shanties and illegal business activities under the Ijora bridge on Monday.
In a post on X.com on Monday, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Barrister Tokunbo Wahab wrote: “Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources #LasgMOE commence removal of shanties and illegal business activities under the Ijora bridge”.
On Saturday, Wahab disclosed that a 23-hour notice was served to illegal occupants squatting under the bridge to vacate the premises.
In February, the state government destroyed and cleared illegal shanties occupied by squatters under the Ijora bridge after a five-day quit notice.
Following this, the government announced its plan to convert the under-bridge to a creational space.
