Lagos First Lady to grace Rotary Club Ojodu installation

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu will be the Special Guest at the 2022/23 installation of the President of Rotary Club of Ojodu, Rotarian Edwin Okon and the Board of Directors on Sunday, 25 September at Sheraton Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja Lagos from Noon.

Rotarian Okon, who is the 18th President of the club, is a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF), a recognition that acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

A statement by the Chairman of the club’s Installation Committee, Rotarian Ijeoma Nwosu stated that the Group Executive Director BUA International Limited, Alhaji Kabiru Rabiu is the Chairman of the event, while Managing Director of Gilbert Igweka Global Concepts Limited, Chief Gilbert Igweka is the Guest of Honour.

Others expected include the Mother of the Day, Senator Princess Florence Ita-Giwa (well known as Mama Bakassi) , while the Chief Host is the District 9110 Governor, Rotarian Omotunde Lawson.

The installation lecture will be delivered by the Regional Director of Consolidated Hallmark Insurance PLC, Rotarian Ijeoma Pearl Okororo. She is Past District 9140 Governor and a PHF.

There will also be presentation of the projects for the Rotary year, and award recognition to personalities who had contributed to the work of humanity.

Rotarian Okon, a royal prince from Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. He holds an MBA and MSc in Finance from University of Ilorin and University of Lagos respectively

Rotary Club of Ojodu was started in 2002 as a provisional club until 8 March 2005 when it was chartered with 26 members. It has grown in leaps and bounds and executed tens of projects within the Ojodu community with more projects to be delivered within this Rotary year that ends on 30 June 2023.
