Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs has empowered fruit and vegetable vendors in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to cut down on post-harvest loss.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa said that sellers were provided with generating sets, fruit blenders, and refrigerators.
Bolarinwa said the event was organized in collaboration with the LCDA following the training on “Reduction of Post-Harvest Losses in Fruits and Vegetables in Lagos State”.
Represented by a director, Ms. Ola Olajumoke, the Permanent Secretary noted that the training was to improve sales and the well-being of vendors.
She hailed traders for their huge turnout, adding the government would continue to support them.
Vice Chairman of the LCDA, Mrs Mojisola Badmus praised the state and head of council for the training.
She said the government, at state and local levels, was aware of the people’s plight and would improve their standard of living.
