Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Olalere Odusote has said that the implementation of a new model of sustainable electricity supply would bring about sustainable electricity supply to communities in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area.

At the meeting with traditional rulers and residents of communities in the area, he said that the state government has entered a partnership with African Development Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) with the support of Eko Electricity Distribution Company and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company to guarantee stable power supply to the communities.

Represented at the event held recently at Magbon-Alade Secondary School, Magbon, Ibeju Lekki by the Director and Head of Power Department of the Ministry, Engr. Afeez Momoh, the commissioner urged residents of the community to give maximum cooperation to the government and all its partners in order to bring the lofty initiative to fruition.

Noting that the engagement is an opportunity to constitute a steering committee for the post-Lekki Electricity Co-operative, Odusote explained that the fund required to rehabilitate the power supply to the communities would be provided by the African Development Bank under a cooperative arrangement with the support of USAID and NRECA.

She pledged the commitment of the government to the project, assuring that the resolutions would be fully implemented.
