A former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has threatened court action over his failure to purchase the form to contest for the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Lamido, who was unable to secure the form at the PDP National Headquarters on Monday morning, expressed dissatisfaction with the development.
Addressing journalists in front of his supporters, Lamido declared that he was prepared to contest for the chairmanship at the 15 and 16 November elective National Convention slated for Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The former Foreign Affairs Minister vowed to head to the court if he failed to get the form.
Earlier in a post on his verified Facebook page, Lamido had declared his intention to contest for the position.
‘By the grace of God, I shall today, Monday, 27 October 2025, by 11 am be at Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, to purchase the nomination form to run for the office of National Chairman’, he wrote.
Governors elected on the platform of the party reportedly endorsed a former Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, for the Chairmanship.
Before his endorsement, Lamido, Turaki, and former Governors of Kano and Kaduna, Ibrahim Shekarau and Ahmed Makarfi, had indicated interest in the contest.
