A man has tragically lost his wife after an extended delay during her operation at Jummai Babangida Aliyu General Hospital, caused by a power outage and fuel shortage in the hospital‘s generator.
The incident was confirmed through a series of posts he shared on his Facebook page.
In one post, he wrote, ‘Inna lillahi wa Inna lillahi rajiun. Kasaa. I just lost my wife’.
He further explained the situation: ‘Thirty-five minutes into my wife’s operation, NEPA took the light, and there was no fuel in the theater generator at Jummai Babangida Aliyu General Hospital’.
‘Minutes later, they brought fuel, but the generator refused to start. They had to call a mechanic, while my wife remained inside the theater’.
‘One of the nurses told me not to worry, assuring me the operation was continuing, as they had alternative lighting (a lamp or flashlight). The mechanic had arrived but had to go to Ogbomosho in Minna to buy parts. My wife was still in the theater’.
‘An hour later, power was restored, but the mechanic was still working on the generator. The operation continued, a procedure that should have lasted 90 minutes but stretched from 4 p.m. to after 7 p.m’.
As the post went viral, many concerned individuals flooded the comments section to express their condolences and share their thoughts.
