A 37-year old security guard at Prestige International College, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State, Nuradeen Shehu, has reportedly committed suicide.
The State Police Commissioner, Hussaini Gumel, told newsmen on Tuesday that the incident happened inside one of the classrooms of the college.
He said that on 28th January at about 10:30 am, one Abdullahi Abdulsalam of Rijiyar Zaki, brought a report that Nuradeen Shehu, a security guard at the college, was found motionless after he hanged himself with rope in a classroom.
According to him, a team of Policemen from GwaleDivision, led by the Divisional Police Officer, was at the scene and forcefully unlocked the door, cut the rope and rushed the body to Murtala Muhammed General Hospital where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
The body was released to the family of the deceased for burial.
Information revealed that the deceased hanged himself, having realised that his ex-wife has remarried.
Gumel added that the police would thoroughly investigate the incident.
