Mobile internet subscribers in Nigeria rose from 139 million in October 2021 to 152.71 million in October, this year, accounting to recent update of telecoms industry statistics posted on the website of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
This implies that about 12.17 million additional subscribers were added to the service providers’ networks within the last one year.
Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication accounted for 152.15 million subscribers, leaving fixed wire and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) for the remaining subscribers.
In the period under review, all mobile networks — except 9mobile — recorded an increase in internet subscriptions.
MTN Nigeria’s internet subscribers increased by 6.41 million from 58.10 million in October 2021 to 64.51 million last October.
Subscribers under Globacom and Airtel respectively increased by 3.44 million and 3.23 million.
9mobile however lost 694,614 internet subscribers, dropping to 5.11 million for the period under review.
