Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe is expected to arrive in Tanzania on Thursday for an inspection visit ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Motsepe is scheduled to inspect the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as Tanzania steps up preparations to co-host the continental tournament.
The CAF president will be received by Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President Wallace Karia before meeting Tanzanian Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba to discuss the country’s preparations for the tournament.
Motsepe will be accompanied by several CAF officials, including CAF Second Vice-President Kurt Okraku, Fifth Vice-President Feizal Sidat, CECAFA President Paulos Weldehaimanot and CAF Acting Secretary-General Samson Adamu of Nigeria.
The visit is expected to allow CAF officials to assess Tanzania’s level of readiness and engage key stakeholders involved in the organisation of AFCON 2027.
Tanzania will co-host the 2027 tournament alongside Kenya and Uganda, with the three East African countries continuing preparations to meet CAF’s requirements ahead of the competition.
