According to PUNCH Metro, the remains of Hafsoh were on Monday interred at a Muslim cemetery in the Sango area of Ilorin, the state capital, according to Islamic rites.
The burial of the deceased took place following an order of the Kwara State High Court, on Monday, for the release of her dismembered parts to her family.
The late Hafsoh’s father, Mr. Lawal Adefalu, confirmed the burial of her daughter to PUNCH Metro on Tuesday.
He said, ‘The late Hafsoh has been buried. She was buried in a Muslim cemetery in Sango on Monday, following the release of her remains to the family by the police on Monday in accordance with the Kwara State High Court order.
‘The Janaza was conducted by some Muslim clerics who held a short service’, her father said.
The family of Hafsoh Lawal had on Monday requested the state High Court to release her dismembered body to them for proper burial according to Islamic rites.
The Kwara State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ibrahim Sulyman, who led the prosecution team in the murder case, requested the continuation of the hearing on the matter on Monday.
The defence counsel, Mr. Chukwudi Maduka, who represented the first defendant, AbdulRahman Bello, did not object to the request, saying that he sympathised with the family despite the ongoing prosecution.
The court consequently granted the order for the release of Hafsoh’s remains to her family.
