Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has assured residents that his upcoming trip to Germany is aimed at strengthening the state’s partnership with construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, and not for leisure.

The governor, who is scheduled to depart for Germany on Tuesday, said the visit is strictly a working trip designed to deepen technical collaboration and secure more favourable project terms for Delta State.

The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, on Monday in Asaba, the state capital, quoted the governor as emphasising that the mission underscores the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to transparency, value-driven projects, and cost efficiency.

Aniagwu said: ‘Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, myself, and the Technical Assistant to the Governor will on Tuesday depart for Germany for a working visit.

‘The purpose of this visit is to strengthen our ongoing partnership with Julius Berger. His Excellency is known for his negotiation skills, and this trip will enable us to secure better deals and concessions that will benefit the state.

‘The visit is not for leisure but part of the administration’s continuous efforts to enhance project delivery and ensure cost-effectiveness’.

Aniagwu recalled that the state’s previous engagement with China resulted in the award of major contracts, including the ₦59 billion Agbor flyover and the ₦39 billion Otovwodo Junction, Ughelli flyover on the Warri–Patani Expressway.

The governor, according to him, has also directed that all upcoming empowerment programmes, scheduled to begin next month, must be transparent and inclusive across the 25 local government areas.

He said the initiatives would be coordinated by relevant ministries and agencies to create sustainable livelihoods and boost productivity
