Fuji musician and actor, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, has paid an emotional tribute to veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following his death at the age of 66.
Pasuma described the death as a painful loss to the Yoruba film industry, saying he was heartbroken by the passing of the actor whom he regarded as an elder brother.
In a tribute shared on social media, the Fuji star recalled Ogogo’s battle for survival and praised the late actor for his resilience.
“My heart is completely broken. Writing this feels like a nightmare I can’t wake up from. My dear brother, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan Ogogo, you fought so hard, but Allah loves you more,” Pasuma wrote.
He said Ogogo’s death had left a significant void in the Yoruba movie industry, describing the actor’s presence and personality as unforgettable.
“Yoruba cinema will never be the same without your towering presence and beautiful soul,” he added.
Pasuma said although he was still grieving, he found comfort in the belief that the late actor was now at rest.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Ogogo Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort his family.
“May Almighty Allah grant you Al-Jannah Firdaus and wrap your beautiful family in His comfort. Sun re o, Egbon Mi,” he said.
Ogogo reportedly died after battling stage-four cancer.
The veteran actor was subsequently buried in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites, with family members, friends and colleagues from the Yoruba film industry in attendance.
