Following the removal of the petroleum subsidy by the administration of President Bola Tinubu, the Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has inaugurated new buses known as “Nasarawa Luxury Ride” to ease transportation for residents and to improve connectivity within the state.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Lafia on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba.
According to Ahemba, the Governor was represented by the State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Adamu Gosho, during the inauguration of the new buses at the Yahaya Sabo Bus Terminal in Lafia.
He explained that the introduction of the new buses was aimed at alleviating the current economic hardship, including the high cost of road transportation to improve the living conditions of residents of the state.
The SSA added that the initiative was part of the government’s commitment to enhancing the transportation infrastructure and services in the state, to improve the daily lives of residents and promote sustainable mobility options.
Ahemba noted that residents and visitors of the state will have the opportunity to enjoy an enhanced commuting experience, with subsidised fares, reduced travel times, increased comfort, and improved reliability.
“To enhance efficiency and proper management of the new buses, the State Government has engaged the services of Mash, a renowned transportation company to achieve set targets.
“The new buses are designed to meet the transportation needs of residents of Nasarawa State. The buses boast advanced technology, ergonomic interiors, and superior fuel efficiency, making them an ideal choice for both short and long-distance journeys.
“The vehicles are also equipped with facilities to cater for the needs of elderly passengers, people with disabilities and families travelling with little children, thus ensuring inclusivity across all segments of the society and overall comfort,” he added.
The SSA, therefore, called on the residents to embrace and support the new public transportation system for the good of the state.
