The NBA war against fake lawyers again paid off Monday as members from Warri, Effurun and Udu Branches arrested a fake lawyer, Tega Ikupa while preparing a Deed of Conveyance with the seal of a Sapele-based lawyer, Israel Onoge Esq at Effurun.
They also arrested the suspect’s sister-in-law who is acting as accomplice.
The suspects have been taken to the Ebrumede Police Station where they are currently cooling off.
Ikupa was apprehended by some lawyers at the premises of the Magistrate Court 1, Effurun Monday morning.
The lawyers comprising D.O. Omage, Lawrence Ayewa of Udu Branch, O.J Oghenejakpor Jnr, D.J. Ikpesu of Effurun Branch, A.P. Eferurhobo and J.E Irogbo of Warri Branch.
The lawyers on discovering the seal with the Supreme Court number quickly called their colleague in Sapele, Israel Onoge Esq who denied giving his seal to anybody to prepare the deed.
The lawyers promptly complained to the Ebrumede Police Station after the suspect who gave his name as Tega Ikupa confessed that the deeds in his possession were given to him by his sister-in-law.
The Police commenced an investigation immediately and the lady was arrested. The lady confessed that one Surveyor at Adeje Community of Okpe prepared the Deeds for her after collecting N80,000.
CSP Iwok Ndifereke, Ebrumede Divisional Police Officer, DPO has also ordered the arrest of the alleged Surveyor as the case is being investigated by the Police.
The arrest of the fake lawyer is coming barely after two fake lawyers were arrested at Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area.
