New Kano CP assumes duty

The newly appointed Kano State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has assumed duty.

Bakori, who is the 47th Commissioner of Police in Kano State, took over from the former Commissioner, Salman Dogo Garba who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

This was contained in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, on Monday.

Haruna said Bakori, a seasoned police officer with over 28 years of service, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Born on 6th February 1969, in Katsina Local Government Area of Katsina State, he enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 15th August 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and trained at the prestigious Police Academy Wudil, Kano.

The new Commissioner holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies from Nassarawa State University, Keffi, a Master’s in Peace, Conflict and Strategic Studies, from Kaduna State University as well as a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Abuja.

He has also attended several professional courses, including the Police Mobile Force Operation Course, Advance Detective Course, and Strategic Leadership and Command Course. Notably, CP Bakori has had the privilege of traversing more than 25 countries across Africa, Asia, and Europe, broadening his understanding of global policing strategies and best practices.

Bakori has also served in various capacities, including O/C Patrol and Guard, Akwanga Division, Nassarawa Command, Divisional Crime Officer, Lafia and Doma Divisions, Nassarawa Command and Aid-De-Camp to the Speaker, House of Representatives.

Others are Staff Officer Junior, Department of Operation, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Escort Commander to First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, 24 PMF, Presidential Escort, Unit Commander / 2ic Squadron Commander / Commanding Officer, 45 PMF, Force Headquarters, Abuja, among others.

As he assumes duty, Bakori pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents in Kano State.

He has called on the public to cooperate with the police and provide useful information to aid in the fight against crime.

The Kano State Police Command calls on the people of the State to extend maximum support and cooperation to the new CP in his quest to make Kano more safer and secure.
