Ola Aina has been rewarded with a one-year contract extension by Nottingham Forest following his impressive performance with the Reds in the 2023/24 season.
The club announced this in a statement on their official Instagram page on Tuesday, which read, “We are pleased to confirm we have activated a one-year extension in Ola Aina’s contract”.
The 27-year-old Nigeria international was one of the outstanding wingbacks in the just-concluded 2023-2024 Premier League season, starting 20 of 22 appearances with a goal and an assist to his name, helping the club escape relegation by a whisker by finishing just a step above relegation.
His only goal came against Aston Villa 5 November 2023, a 2-0 victory at the City Ground.
Aina joined Nottingham Forest on 22 July 2023, on a one-year contract following his release from Torino, where he made 72 league appearances in total for the Serie A side, scoring one goal and providing three assists from 2019 to 2023.
The wingback, who also had an impressive 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with Nigeria, made his debut for Nottingham Forest on 12 August 2023 in a 2-1 loss against Arsenal in the Premier League.
He has also played for Chelsea and Hull Cuty.
