Niger Delta Games: Delta’s Ejiro Peters determined to chase future glory after winning 100m women

After sprinting to breast the tape in 11.58 seconds in the 100m women race of the ongoing second Niger Delta Games in Benin City, Edo State capital, Delta State’s Ejiro Peters said her golden performance would propel her to future glory in the world of athletics.

Edo State’s Praise Tejiri, who arrived the finish line in 11.76 seconds came second ahead of Imoisemeh Victory (also of Edo State) in 11.78 seconds.

After the race, Peters, who now has a new personal best after erasing her previous 11.67 seconds, told NDG media that she never expected to run so fast.

She said: ‘I’ve been praying for this moment. It’s really a great moment.

‘I will say I was not expecting it, actually. But it came and I’m very excited because for me to be competing for my state is a big one for me. I just give all the glory to God.

‘I also want to thank my coach, Coach Emily Osakwe, for believing in me. Emerging as the best is a great opportunity for me and I am going to build on that for the future’.
