Nigeria, Namibia collaborate on pan-African film production

Play Network Studios and Mondjila Studios have partnered for Namibian movie production.

In a statement, the studios noted The Skeleton Coast is an ambitious collaboration with Nigeria’s Play Network Studios, which has been at the forefront of modern, reformative African storytelling.

It said:  “The project is set on Namibia’s Skeleton Coast of the local bushmen tribes as ‘The Land God Made in Anger’, where over a thousand vessels “litter” the magical coast with skeletal remains of multiple shipwrecks.

“The picturesque coast is an out-of-body experience due to its natural beauty, deep-rooted history, and refreshing life, despite death made evident from endless bones of whales, sects, and other unique wild and sea life across the coast”.

It added: “Through The Skeleton Coast, Chartes Okpaleke of Play Network Studios, with Panashe Daringo, of Mondjila Studios, are partnering on a true pan-African film in what is intended to be the largest collaborative production on the continent yet.

“The project, which has begun principal photography in Namibia, is directed by Robert Peters, produced by Rogers Ofime and Arafat Bello Osagie of Play Studios.

It features Thapelo Mokoena (South Africa), Dima Okojie (Nigeria), Tjuna Daringo (Namibia), Mawuli Gavor (Ghana), Cindy Mahlangu (South Africa) and Damilola Adegbite (Nigeria)”.
