In line with its mandate to regulate the practice of public relations in the country, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has developed an initiative called, Nigeria Reputation Management Group
(NRMG) to address the nation’s rising reputation challenge.
The public presentation of the initiative holds on Tuesday, 15 October 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja from 11 am.
Expected at the event are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, who will be the Special Guest of Honour; Chairman of Channels Television, Dr. John Momoh (Chairman of the event); and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Idris Mohammed, the Chief Host.
On Sunday, NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku said in Abuja that the idea of the NRMG is primarily aimed at strengthening and repositioning Nigeria’s reputation capital as a core national asset, operated through private sector approach.
According to him, the initiative is a professional solution that would interface with the public and private sectors towards giving Nigeria a reputation that would make her domestically respected, globally competitive, and a desired destination for productive investments.
“The greatest problem of our nation is simply the lack of reputation, and when a country is weakly
reputable, the economy suffers. This challenge can only be addressed with professional solution and by
experts in that field. That is why, as professionals, we are determined to offer our best for the service of
the nation in this regard”, he said.
The NIPR President, who is also Chairman of the regulatory body’s Governing Board, emphasised that the NRMG would be empowered through relevant provisions of the Institute’s legal framework to operate on a functional governance structure that would enable it provide appropriate policy direction and quality advisory under the guidance of NIPR leadership.
