Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie on a free transfer from Paris FC, with the 24-year-old set to join the Women’s Super League club when her French contract expires on 1 July.

The Super Falcons’ first-choice goalkeeper, widely regarded as Africa’s safest pair of gloves, has finally made the move from French football to the Barclays Women’s Super League after four successful seasons in France.

Nnadozie has earned 55 caps for Nigeria since making her senior debut in 2018 and brings extensive European experience, having made 16 UEFA Women’s Champions League appearances for Paris FC between 2022 and 2025.

The multiple CAF female goalkeeper of the year award winner expressed her excitement about joining Brighton saying, ‘It feels so great I am really excited to be joining this great club.

‘Right from the beginning when I heard the name of the club, I was so interested and I’m happy to be here’.

Brighton manager Dario Vidosic praised the acquisition, highlighting the goalkeeper’s commanding presence and experience.

‘She’s a talented and commanding goalkeeper who will bring consistency and confidence to our defensive line’, Vidosic said. ‘We’re confident she’ll add both depth and drive to a squad already full of ambition as we continue to build for next season’.

Nnadozie made 118 appearances for Paris FC after joining from Nigerian side Rivers Angels in January 2020, establishing herself as one of the top goalkeepers in French women’s football.

Her standout moment came in the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine final, where she saved two penalties against Paris Saint-Germain to help her club claim the trophy in a performance that epitomised her big-game mentality.

The goalkeeper’s exceptional form in 2024 saw her become the first African to win the D1 Arkema Goalkeeper of the Year award, a recognition of her outstanding contributions to Paris FC’s rise in French and European women’s football.

Her international career has been equally impressive, with notable performances at the 2019 and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cups. Her penalty save against Canada in 2023 particularly caught global attention and further cemented her reputation on the world stage.

Before her European adventure, Nnadozie was instrumental in Rivers Angels’ success, helping the Nigerian club win the 2019/2020 NWPL league title and domestic cups.

The goalkeeper rose to prominence at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and quickly established herself as Nigeria’s number one, becoming a key figure in the Super Falcons’ continued success.

Brighton’s acquisition of Nnadozie represents a significant coup for the mid-table WSL club as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Her immediate focus will be on national duty as she looks to help the Super Falcons secure a record-extending 10th WAFCON title before turning her attention to making her mark in English football.
