No fatalities were recorded in the fire incident involving a fully loaded diesel tanker, which overturned and caught fire on Wednesday night along the Abeokuta Motorway inward Agege.
In a statement confirming the incident, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said that the agency’s officials and those of sister ones immediately contained the fire, while ‘residual product burning in the drainage is being addressed’.
He said: ‘One male sustained burn injuries and is currently receiving treatment’.
Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that, although the tanker was damaged, the fire did not spread to surrounding properties.
‘LASEMA is coordinating a multi-agency response with the Fire Service, Police, and LASTMA’, he said.
