Barely 24 hours after the death of Nollywood actor Saint Obi, Nigeria’s movie industry has been thrown into a mourning again – this time over Murphy Afolabi.
The 49-year-old popular Yoruba actor died in the early hours of today at his residence.
Film director and producer, Tunde Ola-Yusuf confirmed the passing via his Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.
“Rest in peace. May God give the family and close associates the fortitude to bear the loss”, he wrote.
The deceased celebrated his birthday just over a week ago – on 5th May.
Murphy, who started his career with a movie, Ifa Olokun under the guidance of Fasasi Olabankewin (popularly known as Dagunro), featured in and produced scores of others. Danguro himself died on 13th June 2019.
