Nollywood actress, Jumoke George has issued a stern warning to Nigerian women about the dangers of undergoing Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgeries, following a recent incident involving the death of a woman during a botched procedure in Lagos. Her message, shared on her Instagram page, highlighted the risks associated with cosmetic surgery and questioned the growing trend of such procedures among Nigerian women.

George expressed her concerns, emphasising that many women are risking their lives unnecessarily for aesthetic enhancements. She referenced the recent arrest of a Lagos-based doctor, Idara Bassey, by the Lagos State Police Command in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman, Abiola, who lost her life during a BBL surgery. This tragic incident has sparked outrage, with calls for stricter regulations in the cosmetic surgery industry to prevent such occurrences in the future.

In her post, George questioned whether those opting for BBL are suggesting dissatisfaction with how God created them. She said, “Women, what is the color of our problem? Because if I say I understand, I am lying. The scripture says every creature was made in the image of God the most high. Are you telling God that He does not know what He was doing? God is perfect. What then are we looking for?” She warned that while God may grant long life, some women are intentionally cutting their lives short with these risky surgeries.

Additionally, George shared her personal struggles as someone naturally endowed with a large backside. She explained that being “heavily endowed” comes with its own challenges, including knee pain and arthritis. She used herself as an example to caution women against undergoing unnecessary surgical enhancements. Her message stressed the importance of self-acceptance and contentment with one’s natural body, as well as the dangers of allowing societal pressure to dictate personal choices.

George’s comments have sparked discussions online, with many supporting her stance on promoting body positivity and natural beauty. Other Nigerian celebrities, like Rita Edochie and Kanayo O. Kanayo, have also shared similar concerns about the rise in cosmetic surgeries within the industry.
