NPFL play-off draw, accreditation hold Saturday in Lagos

Draw for the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season champions play-off will hold on Friday at the corporate headquarters of GTI Group, the league’s investment partners.

Head of Operations of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), Prince Davidson Owumi said plans for a successful lay-off have reached advanced stage and the draw event would mark the official commencement of the season ending event.

“Invitations have been sent out to our partner media organisations and dignitaries that would grace the occasion”, Owumi said through the IMC Media.

Defending champion, Rivers United led Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars in Group B to reach the Super 6, while Bendel Insurance, Remo Stars and Enyimba emerged from Group A.

The play-off will hold from 3rd to 11th June at the Mobolaji Arena in the Onikan area of Lagos.

NPFL Head of Communications, Mr. Harry Iwuala said that issuance of  accreditation passes to media houses wishing to cover the play-off would commence at the draw event.

“We would want to implore media organisations wishing to cover the play-off to send accreditation requests to the DM of the NPFL email account @NPFL NG or youdees@gmail.com on or before 6 pm on Thursday, 1st June”, he said.

In a related development, IMC Vice Chairman, Pastor Paul Bassey has been named as Head of the Play-off Local Organising Committee.

Bassey is expected to bring his wealth of experience in similar position at state, national and international competitions to ensure a successful organisation of the tournament to determine the champions of the season.

He has since swung into action.
