Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested 12 suspects for allegedly dealing in petroleum products and hard drugs.
The suspects were paraded by the NSCDC Commandant in Lagos State, Usman Alfadarai on Wednesday, at the agency’s office at Alausa, Ikeja.
In the statement, NSCDC spokesperson, DSC Abolurin Olumide said: “The anti-vandal unit of the command has again made successful arrests of two persons suspected to be involved in illegal dealings in petroleum products, particularly Automotive Gas Oil, and another five suspects involved in the same crime. We also recovered unquantified oil products as well as arrested five additional suspects in connection with two intercepted boats laden with 54 bags of cannabis sativa, also known as Indian hemp, in another operation and recovered exhibits.
“The state Commandant, CC Usman Alfadarai, in a bid to demonstrate his absolute resolve to stamp out oil theft, illegal dealings, economic sabotage leading to regression, backwardness, poverty and hardship on the common man decided to parade both the suspects and exhibits recovered.
“The 12 suspects have since been brought to the command for further interrogation and investigation being presently handled by the Intelligence and Investigation Department of the command”.
