The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Mining Marshals have unveiled their strategic operational plans for 2025, focusing on intensified field operations, strengthened regulatory compliance, and a renewed campaign against illegal mining activities.

Additionally, the marshals aim to deepen their collaboration with the Mining Cadastre Office to enhance the effectiveness of their mandate.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the Corps’ spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Director-General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, Obadiah Nkom, commended the mining marshals for their resilience and dedication despite the challenges encountered in combating illegal mining.

Nkom praised their professionalism in safeguarding the nation’s economy from saboteurs, highlighting their ability to resist threats, financial inducements, and external pressures to remain steadfast in their duties.

He further noted that the NSCDC Mining Marshals have played a critical role in advancing the mining sector, significantly contributing to national economic development and environmental sustainability.

Nkom also lauded the leadership of Dr Ahmed Audi, whose guidance has driven remarkable progress within the Corps and the mining industry.

“We must acknowledge the commitment of the NSCDC Mining Marshals under the leadership of Dr Ahmed Audi, whose leadership has brought tremendous transformation to the mining industry. The Corps remains an indomitable force combating the scourge that undermines our nation’s economic potential and environmental sustainability,” he stated.

To further strengthen the sector, the Mining Cadastre Office outlined plans for system upgrades, including the automation of services and streamlined licence verification processes to enhance transparency and regulatory frameworks.

The NSCDC Mining Marshals, led by Squad Commander AC John Attah, reiterated their commitment to clamping down on illegal operators. Attah assured that legitimate mineral titleholders would be protected and supported in accessing their resources without interference.

He also noted that the existing collaboration with the Cadastre Office would be instrumental in addressing environmental and community challenges associated with unauthorised mining activities.
