Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate, has emphasized the urgent need for Nigeria to prioritize education and healthcare, particularly for the girl child, as key steps towards national development.
In a post on his X handle, Obi highlighted the importance of advocating for the rights of the girl child, calling it both a moral duty and a strategic investment in the nation’s future. Speaking after engagements in Adamawa and Kaduna, he underscored the transformative impact of empowering girls through education, healthcare, and equal opportunities.
He noted his visit to Kaduna’s Womanhood College of Health Sciences and Technology, where he donated ₦5 million, praising the institution’s role in training women for the healthcare sector. Obi also reaffirmed his earlier ₦10 million donation to Saint Gerard’s Nursing School and pledged an additional ₦5 million despite missing a planned visit due to traffic.
Obi reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that foster inclusive development, stressing that dismantling barriers for girls is essential for building a sustainable and equitable future.
