A leading governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola (well known as Yayi) has urged his supporters to stop erecting campaign billiboards and posters ahead of the campaign for the 2027 general elections.

According to the revised election timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, party primaries are to be conducted between 23 April and 30 May, this year.

In a statement on Tuesday by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, the Ogun West senator, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, cautioned his supporters against engaging in premature campaigns sinc the lid is yet to be lifted on the campaign for 2027 elections.

He, however, appreciated the gestures of his supporters, describing them as reflections of support and confidence in his leadership capacity.

‘I have been informed of the sighting of billboards and posters erected by supporters and groups in parts of the state, soliciting support for my aspiration for Ogun 2027.

‘As a loyal party member who is fully cognisant of the processes and traditions of our great party, I am yet to declare my intention, as I await the party’s timetable and further consultations’, he said.

Adeola urged his supporters to align with due process and established political guidelines, noting that his political approach had always been rooted in grassroots engagement and respect for laid-down rules.

He, however, assured them that their support and sacrifices would not be taken for granted.

‘I appreciate the time and resources expended by my supporters in advancing my cause, and I assure them that their commitment is deeply valued’, he said.

The senator further urged his supporters to remain calm, loyal and law-abiding while awaiting official directives from the party regarding the electoral process.
