The Leadership of the Ogun state chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has congratulated the National Chairman of the party, Barrister Julius Abure, on his recent victory at the Appeal Court where he was reaffirmed as the National Chairman of the party.
The chapter in a statement by its Publicity Secretary Mr Tokunbo Peters in Abeokuta today described the Appeal Court Judgement as a collective victory for the entire Labour Party, and a testament to the strength of truth, fairness, justice, integrity, and the principles of the rule of law which the party stands for.
The statement lauded Barrister Abure for his unwavering commitment to defend the ideals and constitution of the Labour Party and his steadfast dedication to the growth, unity and progress of the party which has been very inspiring.
The statement further stated that the entire leadership and members of the party in Ogun state have absolute trust in the ability, competence and capacity of Barrister Abure to lead the Labour Party to greater heights. It states that “We are confident that, with your guidance, Labour Party will continue to thrive and serve as a beacon of hope, light and progress for our nation”.
The statement urged Barrister Julius Abure to forgive all those who attempted to usurp his position undemocratically and to extend the olive branch to them in order to build a strong, united and virile party ahead of the 2027 election. It further stated that as a matter of urgency, a fence mending meeting must be convened between the Abure led National Working Committee, Peter Obi and Dr Alex Otti in order to close ranks and fashion out the way forward for the party ahead of the 2027 election.
Already the party has suffered a lot of division and lost so much mileage due to the undemocratic attempt to remove Barrister Abure from office. It is now time to unify the party for the purpose of rescuing Nigerians from the shackles of hunger, poverty and bad governance.
