Former Super Eagles midfielder, Augustine Okocha (well known as Jay-Jay) says he is optimistic French champions Paris Saint Germain would win this year’s UEFA Champions League.

Jay-Jay’s optimism about the club he played for between 1998 and 2002 is understandable given their strong performances in recent years and the talent in their squad. The club has several talented players who can make a significant impact in the tournament, including Neymar Jr., Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Mauro Icardi.

However, winning the Champions League is a highly competitive and challenging tournament, and any team can be beaten on any given day. Bayern München, the reigning European champions, will be a tough opponent for PSG, and their match in the Round of 16 is highly unpredictable.

Regardless of the outcome, it promises to be an exciting and closely contested match, and Jay-Jay’s words serve to generate excitement and anticipation among soccer fans around the world.

The Champions League is a tournament rich in history and tradition, and every match is a chance for players to make their mark and for fans to witness some of the best soccer in the world.

The French Ligue 1 champions will have their shot at revenge when they take on Bayern in the first-leg tie on Wednesday.

In a chat with Betting Friends, Okocha said that Messi’s triumph at the 2022 FIFA World Cup would spur the team to win the trophy.

“Definitely yes”, Okocha told Betting Friends when asked if PSG could win the Champions League.

“It is only a matter of time. I have no doubts that they will win the Champions League. The only question is when will it happen? When will the team be ready?

“I think they bought a couple of players lately that help the younger ones to believe in that too. And I think that is what they are missing right now to win the title: the belief that they can do it.

“Pre-season has been promising, as has the Ligue 1 season opener, where he delivered gala performance after gala performance. Leo is making a really good impression, even since he came back from his vacation after the World Cup.

“I would not be at all surprised if he really ignited again this season,” he added.
