The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Chief Bukola Olopade has promised to splash $5,000 cash reward on the national men’s Under-23 football team, if they defeat their opponents from Tanzania this afternoon at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
The match is the second round fixture of the qualifiers for the African zone of the Olympics. The final phase of the continental qualifiers is scheduled for Morocco in 2023.
The first leg finished 1-1 Dar Salaam.
Olopade, who is Nilayo Sports’ Chief Executive Officer, said that the personal gift of $5,000 cash, which would be presented to the Olympic Eagles after the match, is his own little way of motivating the players to victory.
He said he would do more as the team progresses towards the Olympic Paris 2024 Qualifying Tournament in the Kingdom of Morocco in November 2023.
Olopade, a former Ogun State Commissioner for Sports, is a member of the three-man panel set up by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, to co-ordinate preparations for the three age-grade national football teams for upcoming international competitions.
Others members of the panel are the Chairman of Katsina State Football Association, Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi and Alhaji Abba Mukhtar.
