Omo-Agege salutes Asagba at 98; felicitates with Orodje on coronation anniversary

Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has extolled the virtues of the Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof.) Chike Edozien as he turned 98 last Thursday.

Senator Omo-Agege, who is also the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, saluted the revered monarch for his selfless service to his subjects, the state and Nigeria in general.

The Delta Central lawmaker, who paid glowing tributes to the nonagenarian, said the state is privileged to have such a king of repute and royal standing.

Omo-Agege said that, at 98, Obi Edozien “continues to exude uncommon wisdom, strength and courage in leading his people and serving Delta State and the nation”.

He described the traditional ruler as a man of integrity, a lover of peace and an inspiration to many. He prayed God to grant him continuous good health to lead his people and bring greater prosperity to his domain.

The governorship candidate also felicitated with the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Felix Mujakperuo, Orhue I, on his 16th coronation anniversary.

In a congratulatory message to the king, who is also Chairman, Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, Omo-Agege hailed the revered monarch for using his position to promote peace and progress since his ascension to the exalted throne.

Describing the traditional ruler as vibrant, visionary and progressive, Omo-Agege noted that he has always been at the forefront of the quest for justice, equity, and fairness.

He prayed to God to grant the Orodje long life, good health, and a peaceful and purposeful reign to continue to contribute to national development, unity, and harmony in the country.

He further said: “I join your subjects at home, in the Diaspora and other well-wishers to felicitate with you on the joyous occasion of your 16th coronation as Orodje of Okpe Kingdom.

“You have drawn my attention from time to time to a variety of local and national issues and offered sincere, fatherly advice. This is the hallmark of a true leader.

“You have always spoken truth to power and I pray that peace, progress, and prosperity continue to be the hallmark of your reign”.
