Ondo commends NDDC for completing Ode-Erinje power project

Ondo State Government has hailed Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for completing the 132/33kv electricity sub-station at Ode-Erinje in Okitipupa Local Government.

During the courtesy visit of NDDC’s Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku and the commission’s management to Government House in Akure on Monday, the state’s Acting Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed delight that the sub-station, which would provide electricity for many communities, was 99 per cent completed.

According to a statement by the NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Dr. Ibitoye Abosede, the acting governor said that the state government’s target is to create 70,000 new jobs from the $2 billion investment it hopes to attract after engagement with 100 donor partners and 1,500 investors at the end of the “Develop Ondo 2.0 Investment Summit”.

At the opening ceremony of the summit on Monday, Aiyedatiwa said he believed that the state would witness a vibrant and thriving economy that would uplift the people and enrich their lives.

He said the summit was a testament to the administration’s collective vision and unwavering commitment to fostering economic growth, creating jobs and improving the lives of the people of the state.

He said the summit was to showcase the state’s investment potential and promote it as a premier investment destination.

Leading a delegation that included NDDC’s Executive Director for Finance and Administration, Major General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd.); and Executive Director for Projects, Mr Charles Ogunmola. Ogbuku said that it was important to engage and consult stakeholders of the Niger Delta, and commended the state government for its commitment to developing the state.

Director General of the state Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU), Mr. Babajide Akeredolu said the body has collaborated with the state civil service through the civil service innovation challenge platform to unearth ingenious and innovative ideas, capable of improving the socio-economic fortunes of the state.

Akeredolu, who was represented by the unit’s Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Olumuyiwa Akinkuolie, said the PPIMU would continue to create an enabling environment that nurtures innovation, attracts investments and fosters the sustainable development of the state.

Deputy Resident Representative (Operations) Nigeria of the United Nations Development Programme, Fati Attahiru expressed the readiness of the international agency to support and collaborate with the state towards building a sustainable and inclusive economy that leaves no one behind.
