The Ondo State chapter of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) Stakeholders Committee on Ageing has solicited the support of the media to grow its activities in the state.

During an advocacy and familiarisation visit to some media establishments this week in Akure, the state capital, the committee’s Co-Chair 1, Mr. Ade Ayeni lauded the Chief Executives of the media houses visited for their past magnanimity to the senior citizens in the state. He eiterated the need for more collaboration and assistance due to the vulnerability of the elderly in our society.

He further requested a specialised programme that could motivate the senior citizens in the state.

He also used the occasion to highlight some of the activities for the 81st birthday of the NSCC Chief Patron in the state, Senator Bode Olajumoke.

In their different responses, these media chiefs promised to give adequate coverage to the National Senior Citizens Centre programmes in the state because the elderly needed all the necessary encouragement that they deserved.

Such requirements include the establishment of a senior multipurpose home and the promotion of the annual International Elders Day celebrations held on 5 October.

They expressed gratitude to the Co-Chair 1 and the members of his team for honoring them.

They also promised to give adequate coverage to the public lecture in honour of Olajumoke, organized by the Board of the Bode Olajumoke Education and Hospitality Initiative.

The lecture comes up on Tuesday, 1 July 2025 at the Dome in Akure.
