The Ondo State Stakeholders Committee on Ageing has congratulated Mrs. Omobolanle Akinyemi on her appointment as the Director General of the National Senior Citizens Centre.
In a statement, Co-Chair 1 of the committee, Mr. Ade Ayeni; and its Vice-Chair, Mr. Dele Ogundana, also acknowledged the immediate past Director General, Dr. Emem Omokaro, for his pioneering roles in charge of the centre.
We, members of the Ondo State Stakeholders Committee on Ageing, send this congratulatory letter to you on your appointment by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
The group wrote to Akinyemi: ‘Our state chapter is particularly grateful to Mr. President for deeming it suitable to appoint you to steer the ship of the National Senior Citizens Centre, based on your previous exploits and achievements.
‘It is our admonition and expectations that your past antecedents would be child’s play to what you will do in the lives of the senior citizens in Nigeria during your tenure.
‘Since it is a well-known fact that you have interacted widely with the diverse groups at the grassroots, the problems of the aged people are not strange to you as well.
‘We pray that you be guided by your diligence and passion to make the necessary changes in their lives so that posterity will judge your actions as divinely assigned by God for the senior citizens in Nigeria’.
