Osimhen back from injury, trains for Milan clash

Following Victor Osimhen’s absence from the team for the past two weeks due to an injury in his abductor’s muscle, The Nigerian attacker has begin individual training.

Napoli are in a race against time to recover their star striker ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Milan on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward was on international duty when he suffered the distressing injury at such a crucial time in the season, missing the Partenopei’s last two league matches against the Rossoneri and Lecce.

The situation for Napoli got worse when backup striker Giovanni Simeone injured his knee during the victory over Lecce, putting him in danger for the European match as well.

Corriere dello Sport highlights how Napoli are now desperate to recover Osimhen in time for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Milan, scheduled for 12th April.

The Nigerian striker did not train with his teammates today (Saturdau), working individually in the gym, and time is starting to run out as he works on his recovery.

Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti has admitted that the Partenopei has struggled without their talismanic forward.

Napoli were thrashed 0-4 by AC Milan last weekend but laboured to a 2-1 win over Leece on Friday night.

The win re-established Napoli’s 19 points lead at the top of the Serie A table.

“We need to see how he reacts to strong physical activities, so far he’s done some basic jogging”, Spalletti said.

“It’s difficult without him (Osimhen), because he has this way of running into space, this physicality, he can draw everyone to him and create the space for his team-mates.
