The Osun State House of Assembly, on Monday, passed the Electricity Bill, 2025, which allows the state to establish an Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The statement in Osogbo, the state capital  by Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, read in part: ‘The Electricity Bill, an executive bill, was passed on Monday following its third reading during a plenary session presided over by Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun.

‘The House Majority Leader, Hon. Kofoworola Adewunmi, initiated the motion for the bill’s third reading after the committee on water resources and energy, represented by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola, presented its report’.

Giving tips about the provisions of the bill, Tiamiyu said that when signed into law, it will enable the state to establish an Electricity Regulatory Commission, which will oversee issues related to electricity in the state.

Also, during the plenary, amendments to the state Customary Courts of Appeal, Customary Court, and the state District Customary Courts were also approved.

‘The motions, seconded by Hon. Tajudeen Adeyemi, Hon. Sikiru Bajepade, and Hon. Folorunsho Ogundare, received unanimous support during a voice vote conducted by the speaker’, the statement further read.
