The Osun State Government announced, on Saturday, said that it would take action to address the concerns raised by traditionalists, who revealed that many residents were secretly experiencing health challenges.

During this year’s annual Isese Day Celebration in Osogbo on Tuesday, the Traditional Religion Worshippers Association of Osun State stated that their consultation with the Ifa oracle, conducted on behalf of the state ahead of the celebration, revealed that many residents were struggling with significant health issues.

The group urged the government to take the health of residents seriously and act promptly.

The traditionalists also predicted that unexpected blessings would come to the state and advised the government to utilise these benefits for the good of the residents.

Some of the group’s predictions read: “Numerous members of the State Government and the people of the State are revealed to be undergoing some significant health issues.

“To cure these, Ifa encourages the government to take medical issues seriously.

“Ifa forecasts that there are some blessings coming in addition to the government’s expectations. These blessings are said to be in the form of bonuses; that is, something we don’t have to labour for, but after receiving these, we are advised by Ifa to keep the joy within ourselves.

“Moreover, the blessings should be shared appropriately. For the citizens to benefit from these blessings, the planting, selling, and consumption of ‘Orogbo’ (bitter kola nuts) should be encouraged.”

When asked what steps the government was taking to address the traditionalists’ predictions, Osun State Commissioner for Health, Mr Jola Akinola, said that the government would take medical steps to ensure residents remain in good health.

Akinola stated, “I am in charge of the Ministry of Health, not Culture and Tourism. However, we are always prepared. The predictions were made ‘traditionally,’ but we will prepare ‘medically’ and address them ‘medically.’”
