Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has said his administration fulfilled all the promises he made to residents during the 2022 governorship campaign, while also highlighting what he described as strong budget performance during his first term.
Oyebanji made the remarks on Thursday evening at Aramoko Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area, during a town hall meeting with stakeholders from Ekiti Central Senatorial District as part of consultations for the state’s 2027 budget.
The governor said his administration had remained committed to its mandate and had consistently incorporated requests made by residents during town hall meetings into successive budgets.
“Go and check the records; I didn’t betray the people’s trust in the last four years. When I made promises, I would fulfil them. I did everything I promised,” Oyebanji said.
He added that he had made further commitments to residents and would work towards fulfilling them for as long as he remained governor.
Oyebanji also assured residents that requests aimed at improving their living conditions would be addressed either directly by the state government or through partnerships.
On infrastructure, the governor said Ekiti was collaborating with the World Bank through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project to deliver 1,500 kilometres of roads across the state.
He disclosed that about 235 kilometres of rural roads would be covered under the third phase of RAAMP, which is expected to commence after the rainy season.
Oyebanji also addressed the challenges of perennial flooding and gully erosion in Efon, Aramoko and Ado Ekiti, saying the government had studied the causes and patterns of erosion across the state and was developing measures to tackle the problem.
On healthcare, Oyebanji said his administration had renovated 110 primary healthcare centres across the state as part of efforts to improve access to medical services at the grassroots.
He said further improvements to primary healthcare facilities would be pursued to help reduce mortality and morbidity rates among residents.
The governor also commended traditional rulers for their role in intelligence gathering and community vigilance, saying their efforts had contributed to improved security across the state.
Oyebanji is scheduled to begin his second term in office on 16 October 2026 following his re-election in June.
At the meeting, stakeholders from Ado, Ekiti West, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ijero and Efon local government areas presented requests for the 2027 budget, including additional road projects, improved electricity supply, stronger healthcare and ambulance services, erosion control, potable water and more public secondary schools.
