Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has unveiled a 30-year development vision focused on innovation, technology, enterprise and knowledge-driven economic growth.
Oyebanji spoke on Wednesday at the Ekiti at 30 Future Summit in Ado-Ekiti, organised to mark the 30th anniversary of the state’s creation.
The governor said Ekiti must move beyond celebrating its past achievements by developing an economy capable of creating jobs, attracting investment and improving citizens’ welfare.
He urged youths to acquire relevant skills, embrace technology and develop innovative solutions rather than depend solely on government employment.
The governor identified agriculture, technology, culture and tourism as key drivers of Ekiti’s future economy, while calling for greater private-sector participation.
Lead speaker, Dr Tunji Olowolafe, also urged the state to translate its educational strength into practical innovation, stressing the importance of reliable power, infrastructure and industrial partnerships.
The summit also featured the presentation of prizes to winners of the Ekiti at 30 Essay Competition. Peace Ogunjemilua emerged first, while Blessing Adelusi and Ayomide Lafiaji took second and third positions respectively.
Fifteen other finalists received ₦500,000 each as consolation prizes.
