Oyo State government, on Wednesday, officially unveiled its 2022/2023 Annual Schools Census Report.
The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, who presented it at the ministry’s conference room in Ibadan, the state capital, reiterated ‘government’s commitment to accurate data collection for effective decision-making in the education sector’.

Olayiwola highlighted the importance of data in educational planning.
He urged stakeholders ‘to properly preserve the report for regular reference” and also called on “relevant departments to expedite the release of the outstanding reports for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years’.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Bamidele Oyinloye, represented by the Director of Senior Education Services, Olayinka Akanji, commended ‘the ministry for producing the 2022/2023 census report’.
She explained that the availability of accurate data has always been a priority for the ministry.
The perm sec noted that ‘development partners and education-focused non-governmental organizations rely heavily on verifiable data for planning and implementing interventions’.
Oyinloye, therefore, called for greater collaboration with private school owners, stressing that both public and private schools contribute significantly to education delivery in the state.
Representatives of various private school associations at the event, including the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, League of Muslim School Proprietors, Association of Christian Schools International, and others, pledged continued cooperation with the government to raise educational standards in the state.
