The Oyo State Health Insurance Agency is set for enrolment and validation of 10,000 pupils in the state, under its health insurance coverage.
This, according to the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Sola Akande, was in furtherance of Governor Seyi Makinde’s integrated approach to education in the state.
Akande made this known on Wednesday, during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Nureni Adeniran.
Akande said, “This visit is very timely as the agency is ready to embark on the enrolment and validation of 10,000 pupils who will benefit from the Oyo State Health Insurance Policy”.
He noted that the pupils would benefit immensely from the insurance programme.
Responding, Adeniran promised that the board would take the exercise seriously.
He said the insurance policy, the first of its kind in the country, would be a model for other South-West states going forward.
The Oyo SUBEB boss, therefore, set up a six-man inter-agency committee to work out the modalities to implement the policy.
He also disclosed that the insurance policy would be kickstarted in September at the beginning of a new session.
