The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised the alarm over alleged plan by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to orchestrate violence aimed at disrupting the proceedings of the governorship election tribunal, which is sitting at the High Court premises in Benin City, the state capital.
On Wednesday, a PDP leader, Barrister Tony Ehilebor said: “We have credible information that individuals posing as PDP supporters have been mobilised by the APC to cause chaos at the High Court premises.
“The PDP has not authorised or invited any of its members or support groups to be present at the court.
“The individuals currently assembling outside the court premises are imposters.
“We call on security agencies to take immediate notice of this situation and ensure the safety of Judges, lawyers, and all parties involved in the tribunal process”.
The tribunal resumes sitting on the petition of PDD and its governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo against the election of his APC counterpart, Senator Monday Okpebholo as governor.
PDP has vowed to upturn the results of last 21 September 21 governorship election.
