FG Resolves PENGASSAN & Dangote Dispute
The Federal Government said it has brokered peace in the industrial dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
According to a statement in the early hours of Wednesday by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, the reconciliation meeting resolved that ‘unionisation is the rights of the Nigerian workers and that the management of Dangote Group shall immediately start the process of taking the disengaged staff to other companies within the Dangote Group, with no loss of pay’.
It was also agreed that no worker would be victimised arising from their role in the impasse between Dangote and PENGASSAN.
‘All parties agreed to the demands’, the statement also read.
The government team at the meeting included the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Dingyadi; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Chief Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubaksr Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; Director General of the Department of State Security, Mr. Adeola Ajayi; Director General of National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
