Penpushing member, Akiyode-Afolabi to bag distinguished service to humanity award

A prominent member of Penpushing platform and founding Director of
Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC) Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi is to be honoured with Distinguished Service to Humanity Award

The award is scheduled to be presented to her by the Federal College of Education(FCE), Osiele, Abeokuta at the 50th Founder’s Day anniversary of the institution and the College’s 26 Combined Convocation Ceremonies for the award of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) on 11 February 2026.

The Registrar of the institution Tonade, Olabode in letter forwarded to Akiyode-Afolabi explained that it is the college’s tradition to confer such awards on distinguished personalities in recognition of their unsung positive contributions to the educational development of the country in general.

Olabode added that this includes their philanthropic gestures which have impacted on many less privileged in the society, as well as their direct and indirect contributions to the growth and development of the college in particular.

‘Bearing in mind that you are one of the few distinguished Nigerians that fall into this category, the college considered you as a worthy recipient of this award. On behalf of the Governing Council, Provost and Management of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, I am delighted to inform you that you have been offered the College’s Award of Distinguished Service to Humanity’, the letter reads.

‘The Award shall be conferred on you at the College Awards and Cultural Night which is one of the activities lined up to commemorate the 50 Founder’s Day Anniversary of the College and the College’s 26 Combined Convocation Ceremonies for the award of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) at 3.00 pm of Wednesday, 11 February 2026 at the COEASU Hall of the College’, Olabode wrote

‘It is the College’s tradition to confer such awards on distinguished personalities in recognition of their unsung positive contributions to the educational development of the country in general, their philanthropic gestures which have impacted on many less privileged in the society, as well as their direct and indirect contributions to the growth and development of the College in particular. Bearing in mind that you are one of the few distinguished Nigerians that fall into this category, the College considered you as a worthy recipient of this award.

‘We believe that your glad consent to receiving this award of Distinguished Service to Humanity shall not only spur you to greater contributions to the education sector in Nigeria, but also further development of the society and our College and we want to sincerely congratulate you for having a record that merits this honour’, the letter emphasised.

The College management in the letter to Akiyode-Afolabi, who is chairperson annual anniversary planning committee of Penpushing Media, emphasised that the authorities will be grateful for her kind acceptance of the honour
