A man identified as Okhiria has been arrested by the operatives of the Edo State Police Command for shooting his wife with a gun during an argument on June three, at Ekae Community in the new Etete axis, GRA, Benin City, the state capital.
The suspect was said to have had an argument with his wife and went to pick up his gun and fired at her with the bullet hitting her left hand. The victim’s hand has been amputated following the incident.
The state command spokesperson, Superintendent Chidi Nwabuzor told the media that the incident was reported at the New Etete Division, on 3rd June.
He said, “On 3rd June, the police received a complaint from some elders of Ekae Community with Joanki Okhiria, aged nine years, that on the same date, Joanki Okhiria’s father had an argument with his wife Tina Okhiria.
“In the process, Okhiria shot Tina with his double barrel gun on the left hand and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment. The affected hand has been amputated”.
Nwabuzor said the police have apprehended and will soon charge the suspect in court after the investigation.
