The domestic staff of music star David Adeleke (better known as Davido) have been arrested and kept in police custody over the tragic death of his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi.

Lagos State police spokesman, Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest hours after reports of Ifeanyi’s death went viral on Monday night.

Hundeyin said eight domestic workers were brought in for questioning in connection with Ifeanyi’s death.

Davido, the DMW boss, and his fiance, Chioma Rowland were said to be away from the house when the boy drowned in a pool at his father’s house in Banana Island.

Hundeyin said: “Domestic staff at Davido’a home have been taken to the station to give their own account of what happened. I wouldn’t call that arrest yet.

“If after they all give their own account of what happened and after preliminary investigations, if anyone of them is found culpable, the person will now be placed under arrest”.

In a bid to revive Ifeanyi after being pulled out of the swimming pool, he was reportedly rushed to a hospital in the Lekki area of the state, where he was confirmed dead by one of the doctors on duty.

In an Instagram, comedian Ayo Makun early Tuesday wrote: “The death of a child is unnatural, unfair, and tragic, this hit me so bad”.

Daddy Freeze, who went live on Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning, said: “When the person you love is someone involved it becomes a heavy emotional burden. I am not confirming anything but bear with me I will not be live tonight”.

Lasisi Elenu also posted: “Father heal your children’s heart from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord”.

Reality TV star and actress, Rosemary Afuwape, said on her Instagram story: “My heart can’t take this. This is so painfully unbearable. Chioma and Davido please accept my condolences. No amount of words can comfort your hearts. I am truly sorry for your loss”.
