The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), said, the purported secret airport in Kebbi state for drugs smuggling, is AI generated it does not exist.
This is the outcome of its findings after the Chairman of the Agency, Gen. Buba Marwa, ordered the state Command to conduct thorough investigation about the existence of an alleged airport in Argungu forest used for cocaine trafficking between Nigeria and Bogota, Columbia.
Kebbi Commander of the NDLEA, Rabi’u Abdullahi Sokoto, made the clarification at a joint news briefing with the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmad Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday
‘On the orders of the NDLEA Chairman, Gen. Marwa, we despatched our officers to the alleged location, there’s nothing like that in such forest in Kebbi’.
‘Also, investigations indicate that there is nobody in the state with the name of Ibrahim Musa, Asst. Comptroller of Customs, (Rtd), who allegedly built the airport’.
‘How can an alleged obscure airport contain 12 aircraft at a time?’.
‘The short video was AI generated to divert attention for ulterior motives’, the Commander said.
On its part, Kebbi Police Command, described the report as baseless, misleading and an orchestrated attempt to tarnish the image of Kebbi State and the Police Command.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Chier Superintendent Nafi’u Abubakar, in Birnin Kebbi, believed that the report was aimed at creating unnecessary fear, embolden unscrupulous elements, undermine determination, bravery and professionalism of officers to combat crime.
Kebbi Information Commissioner, Yakubu Ahmed, described the false report as childish, illogical and laughable.
‘This is in continuation of frivolous allegations against Governor Nasir Idris and the people of Kebbi by desperate politicians who want to assume power through whatever means’.
‘This is very irresponsible and criminal, they are unmindful of what happens to the state as long as their ambition is achieved’.
‘The government urges the good people of Kebbi State to be alert and ignore such antics and dangerous tactics’.
‘The enemies of the state will continue to do more, do not give them the chance to succeed’, the Commissioner emphasised.
